Success of the LGBT Pride March in Taiwan
On October 28th, tens of thousands gathered in Taipei to celebrate Taiwan’s advancements in LGBT+ rights, particularly the recent legislation allowing same-gender couples to adopt children. Taiwan has long been a symbol of LGBT+ freedoms in Asia, and this Pride March, the 21st of its kind and Asia’s most significant, saw around 176,000 participants. The event was even more noteworthy as Taiwan’s Vice President, Lai Ching-te, who is a candidate in the upcoming January elections, joined the march.
