In the aftermath of Election Day, Democrats are grappling with a variety of explanations for Vice President Kamala Harris’ defeat. Internal criticisms are widespread, with some party members quietly attributing the loss to President Joe Biden’s leadership or campaign strategies. However, a growing number are singling out the party’s stance on transgender rights, an issue that holds less sway in U.S. politics but has become increasingly contentious.
“The Democrats have to stop pandering to the far left,” said Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-N.Y.), expressing his concerns to The New York Times. “I don’t want to discriminate against anybody, but I don’t think biological boys should be playing in girls’ sports.”
