HRC Study: Kamala Harris Favored by 74% of LGBTQ+ Voters
A recent survey conducted by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) reveals that over 95% of LGBTQ+ adults in the United States are registered to vote, with 93% expressing a strong intention to participate in the upcoming November elections. Among these voters, 73% report feeling “highly motivated” to cast their ballots.
Kamala Harris Leading in Electoral Preferences
According to the study, Kamala Harris enjoys substantial support among LGBTQ+ voters, with 74% backing her. In contrast, Donald Trump garners only 7.5% of the vote, marking a significant 67-point gap.
Findings from the Annual LGBTQ+ Climate Survey
The data comes from HRC’s 2024 Annual LGBTQ+ Climate Survey, conducted in partnership with Community Marketing and Insights. The survey collected responses from more than 2,400 LGBTQ+ individuals between August 8 and August 18.

LGBTQ+ Voters: A Determined and Diverse Group
Shoshana K. Goldberg, Director of Research at HRC, highlights the importance of LGBTQ+ voters in the upcoming elections. This group is highly motivated and focuses on a range of issues such as the economy, civil rights, and the defense of democracy.
Broad Interest Across Generations
Voter registration is notably high across all age groups, with increased motivation among older voters. For instance, 81% of Gen Z voters express interest, while this figure rises to 95% among those over 60 years old.
Widespread Rejection of Project 2025
The study also reveals strong opposition to Project 2025, a conservative initiative aimed at restructuring the U.S. executive branch. About 92% of LGBTQ+ adults are aware of it, and 93% reject it, particularly among Gen Z respondents.
Top Priorities for LGBTQ+ Voters
Key concerns for LGBTQ+ voters include civil rights (51.6%), reproductive rights (46.9%), judicial reform (32.7%), and inflation (31.4%). Additionally, Project 2025 is a source of concern for 27.1% of respondents.
