In recognition of Spirit Day — an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about bullying endured by LGBTQ+ youth — Snoop Dogg has released a new song titled “Love is Love”. The track is a heartfelt tribute to family diversity, celebrating all types of parental structures, including same-sex couples. This release comes just two months after the hip-hop legend faced public backlash for controversial remarks regarding the animated film Lightyear, which featured a lesbian couple raising a child.
During a previous interview, Snoop shared that after watching the film with his grandson, he was caught off guard when asked how two women could have a baby together. The rapper admitted he struggled to come up with an appropriate response — a moment he later admitted reflected his own learning curve around LGBTQ+ representation in media.

Although Snoop Dogg had already issued a public apology on social media, he chose to go further by taking a creative approach. “Love is Love” is a kid-friendly song featured in an episode of his YouTube animated series Doggyland, released on October 13. With lyrics like:
