Two Exciting Roles Open for Festival Organization

The Alliance Arc-en-ciel de Québec is recruiting two special events organizers to assist in planning Québec Pride 2026, happening September 4-6. These seasonal roles, from July 6 to September 6, 2026, involve contributing to one of the largest 2SLGBTQ+ gatherings in the Capitale-Nationale region.

Comprehensive Event Planning Participation

Selected individuals will gain experience across the entire organizational process, from event planning stages to execution during the festival. Responsibilities will include logistical coordination, developing and maintaining partnerships, communicating with participating organizations, supporting volunteer teams, and being present at events.

This aligns with efforts seen in Pride events in northeastern France, highlighting the importance of organizational teams in event success.

We seek candidates with self-motivation, organizational prowess, a passion for teamwork, and strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse cultural and community partners.

Fostering Inclusion through Event Experience

Beyond practical event management skills, these roles contribute significantly to the promotion of diversity and inclusion within the 2SLGBTQ+ communities in Québec.

Combating Hate Speech with Memory, Pride, and Inclusion

Enhancing Public Awareness through Historical Projects

In response to growing hate speech against sexual and gender diversity, the Alliance Arc-en-ciel de Québec is initiating a project combining educational activities, historical transmission, and greater inclusion in cultural settings. Funded by the Bureau de lutte contre l’homophobie et la transphobie (BLCHT), “Memory and Pride” strives to use LGBTQ+ history to inform and resist prejudice and exclusion.

Inviting Community Involvement

To trace the rich history of LGBTQ+ communities in Québec, the Alliance Arc-en-ciel encourages public contributions, including testimonials, photographs, personal archives, and other material to document significant narratives and locations within the movement.

Unifying Generations through Historical Exchange

Intergenerational panels and meetings with activists are planned to facilitate dialogues between past contributors to the movement and those still pursuing equality today. This initiative aims to strengthen knowledge sharing, honor past accomplishments, and inspire ongoing civic engagement.

Tools for Public Education

Collected stories and artifacts will support the creation of awareness tools like exhibitions, informational videos, and publications to educate the public about the realities of sexual and gender diversity communities. Through this initiative, the Alliance Arc-en-ciel aims to demonstrate that understanding history is integral in combatting prejudice and exclusion.

Training the Cultural Sector for Inclusive Events

A Comprehensive Organizational Training Program

Together with this historical initiative, the Alliance Arc-en-ciel de Québec continues to work towards making cultural and festive events more welcoming to individuals from sexual and gender diverse backgrounds. Funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada, the organization offers free training sessions to organizations looking to improve their inclusion practices.

Management and Coordination Focused Module

The initial training module targets managers, coordinators, directors, and HR personnel. Participants will explore fundamental concepts of sexual and gender diversity, associated community realities, organizational legal responsibilities, and inclusion-promoting practices.

Frontline Staff Focused Module

The second training module is designed for employees and volunteers interacting with the public, such as those in reception, security, and ticketing. The focus will be on adopting inclusive behaviors and best practices for public interaction, alongside suitable responses for various field situations.

Achieving Durable Event Practice Transformation

Through these training offerings, the Alliance Arc-en-ciel de Québec aims to contribute to evolving event industry practices to create safer, accessible, and respectful environments for all.
